  1. This by far was one of the most compelling Podcast I have heard in quite sometime. It instills a certain sense of pride in me knowing that there are so many African Americans with a genuine interest in Japan and it’s Culture. For a very long time I felt like a bit of an odd ball because of my interest in Japan, but now I see there are so many people that share my thoughts. The on-line community allows like minded people from all over the world to share ideals and concepts and in many cases without ever meeting in person.

I personally feel that when introducing technology such as multimedia into the learning process it makes for a much more stimulating environment. Various chat rooms are also a good place to practice writing in Japanese (Hiragana, Katakana and Kanji), and meeting like minded people who share your interest. Furthermore, you will run into Japanese that may want to practice their English and you can give each other tips and suggestions. In addition, I was surprised at how many free and low-cost educational Podcasts and Apps that are available for the iPod.

Japan Newbie’s story is inspiration to anyone interested in learning about Japanese culture as well as the language. I look forward to hearing more of your thoughts on Japan. Thank you for sharing.
