Here is an interesting look at “Living in Japan” from a guy looking for a place to live in Tokyo. He posts some nice shots of older homes in Japan that are often affordable to many foreign residents.

Much of the hot and hot, not to mention hot month of July was spent trailing around various bits of Tokyo looking at what passes for rental accommodation in the jumbled collection of buildings in what passes for Japan’s capital city. I’ve just about recovered from the ordeal and feel able to review some of the photos I took at the time without recourse to pharmaceutical substances.

The first place we looked at was this bungalow-type house in Nishi-Ogikubo , a western-central suburb of Tokyo proper. I can’t recall the exact details any more, but it was about 15 minutes (a good long walk) from the nearest station and cost 110,000 or 120,000 yen a month. For the floor area available this is not too bad a price. You can read parts 1 and 2 of the apartment search here.
